In the 1960s through the1980s a subculture in the United States became tremendously well known. This culture was called “swinging.” As an outgrowth of the promiscuity enabled by the availability of “the pill” which allowed for sex with little or no chance for pregnancy, many Americans began to openly engage in regular sexual activities with partners other than people whom they were married to. Popularized by such as Hugh Heffner, the idea of openly engaging in sexual activities with “others” almost became a sport during this period.

With the appearance of AIDS, it became clear that the possibility of contracting Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) made these activities less than “absolutely safe.” By the 1990s, there was a marked decline in the public marketplace of advertisements for a “third partner,” or “an additional couple” to participate in such activities. Just as extramarital sex did not begin with the explosion of the 1960s it did not end with the implosion of the 1990s.

Wife swapping, open marriages, and group sex have always been available in certain circles, not to mention concubines, and lovers of both sexes, throughout history. It seems, though that the promiscuity in the grand publicly advertised manner of the 1960s has indeed passed. You can still find some classified ads in some newspapers looking for “swingers” but in general, the advertising has moved to the Internet. It makes great sense that this relatively new medium be the medium that carries these advertisements, as this medium is the least restrictive and least restricted medium we have. It may very well be the least restrictive and restricted medium we will ever have.

There are “swingers” sites and “swingers” clubs on the Internet. They are easy to find and often just as easy to join. Be prepared to be extremely revealing, (or to lie a lot) to get into one of the active groups. Some of these groups are about casual sex. One of these advertises itself as the “bored Housewives” who are only looking for someone to have sex with, ostensibly because their husbands ignore them. Some of these clubs are clubs where you can meet with others who are looking to establish long-term relationships with another, or several other couples, or individuals.

The possibilities are limitless, and the links to online swingers are numerous. If this is what you are looking for you won’t have a hard time finding it. a word of warning, though, as above stated, you will be expected to be revealing and candid, expect that from the others you are about to meet before you go someplace to meet them in person.
